=MARKET BUZZ: Malaysia’s KLCI Little Changed; Support Tipped At 1666
KUALA LUMPUR (Mar 15) -- Malaysia’s KLCI in narrow band with investor focus shifting blue chips stocks to small caps and lower liners amid global uncertainties. Benchmark FBM KLCI down 0.04% at 1673.85 after edging higher to 1675.17 earlier; other regional indexes mixed. Axiata leads losses on KLCI, down 1.2% to MYR4.11, while Genting Malaysia slips 0.9% to MYR3.38 and Malaysia Airports Holdings loses 0.8% to MYR7.74. Overall losers outpace advancers 245-to-210, while 282 stocks unchanged; 986.88 million shares valued MYR304.26 million changed hands. “KLCI stocks may continue to dither amid the lack of new catalysts to nudge stock prices higher,” says Malacca Securities in investor note; adds, interest in index stocks weak from local and foreign investors who are tepid on near-to-medium term outlook. Brokerage expects gauge to end week “meekly” with downside bias in play; tips support at 1666.
